Bringing more care to

THE AUDITION PROCESS:

while giving actors, maybe even auditioners, some helpful tools. (working title)

~

This is a book about auditioning that will focus on the ways an artist can take control of the audition process and how the rest of us can support them in that task. I've been slowly writing away and it will be published in the next year or two by Playwrights Canada Press.

Sound of the Beast

"Compassion is good, but it’s just motivation. Cars need engines. Movements need mobilization."

Through spoken word, storytelling and hip hop, acclaimed wordsmith Donna-Michelle St. Bernard illuminates racial discrimination, the suppression of expression and the trials of activism. Her experience as a Canadian emcee is woven through with allusion to Tunisian emcee Weld El 15’s unjust imprisonment for rhymes against a regime. This story creates a space to reflect on how we are connected to the systems that oppress us, and how we can empower each other to rise up.

- J. Kelly Nestruck, The Globe and Mail

SNAPPY SHORTS

at Tarragon

Compiled by Andy McKim

"This is a volume of plays written by many of Canada's favourite and familiar playwrights, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Tarragon Theatre's annual Spring Arts Fair. These 45 plays are a stimulating and diverse selection from the almost 200 plays that premiered in the first 20 years of the Fair. All between 10 and 20 minutes, most are very easy to produce needing a maximum of three actors and a modest setting. These plays make an excellent introduction to theatre, and are short enough for quick and pleasant bedtime reading. There is a wide variety of themes to be studied, and theatre to appeal to all amateur, community and professional companies."
